Marc,
The xw series must have a 240VAC generator or a cluge transfomer. If you do the single phase firmware (and mod) an xw6000 inv/charger can be run from 120VAC a generator. I do not beleive there is firmware and mod to do this on the xw 4524 or the xw4548. Your outback experience is a different animal BTW
