A TK JR uses ~4 watts o n stand by, ~40 while firing. I believe the heater element comes on at ~35f. (From a Kill-a-watt)
install a shut off, or unplug it when you don't need it, so the stand by power is eliminated.
I love the ones I have installed, but I also like the new Rinnais a lot.
