N G,
In the Summer, our cycles are shallower. But, DO regularly cycle these banks to 75 - 80% SOC, and to about 55% SOC on occasion. Just have not ever seen stratification on these systems, ...
Well, for the systems that I watch, stratification is NOT an issue at all. These systems get good gassing in the 57 volt range -- 14.25 V/12 V. Have floated FLA batteries for extended periods...
Thank you BB Bill for the concise synopsis of AC Coupling.
Have considered this for my OG system, as will be developing some additional roof space, hundreds of feet from the battery bank, but...
Hi .. whit,
Congratulations on "placing this system in service" last year, and for now just cleaning up the those remaining details. Fine work, looks nice. Now to find a really big inverter...
Bill, believe that this only applies to systems that have RE inputs that other than PV. The Classic starts a 'new day' at midnight, so if one has Hydro, Wind or other power available during dark...
Well, Floating a battery, at least FLAs, adds to Positive plate corrosion. So, lowering the Float voltage to that which JUST maintains SG is somewhat better for the battery. Not a huge thing...
Regarding Float voltage, to me 13.7 V seems high for Float on FLA batteries. AND, it is often difficult to get specific advice from the manufacturer of GC batteries on charge parameters.
...
OK terra ..
Great news. QOs are fine breakers/panels. Good luck, Vic
Several things, resting voltage for 12 V FLAs at 25 degrees C is normally about 12.7 or perhaps 12.8 V. This is with NO charging and NO loads at all for hours.
Seems that at least one thing has...
Hi B p,
To me, these SGs do not look too bad. There seems to be some inconsistancy in the readings between the first SGs you have reported, and those reported after all of the cycling, ...
All of the Surrette Solar batteries that I know of are STILL shipping with 1.265 SG electrolyte. They are speced at 1.280 SG, but not shipped this way.
Trojan, on the other hand, HAS changed...
Hi Brian,
Just to make certain that you know that the Baby Box, is very very small. Especially with four breakers installed. Am certain that you know that it is not rated for use outside, in...
It DOES look beautiful and very peaceful. However, you need to protect much more of the roof with PV modules, IMHO.
Glad that all is well there, Marc. Vic
Hi inetdog
I have not priced a 64 V Mains Charger recently (or ever). If it is a Maintainer, then is should be less expensive than a charger, but have not priced those either.
I did notice...
Hi Wolf,
The MidNite Solar Classic 150 SHOULD be able to do the job. Here is the spec sheet:

Classic 150 Manual is here:...
Hi gww,
Yes wire in conduit should be stranded.

Good Luck, it is never easy, Vic
MaEC,
So, guess that the Thrift Store lamp is looking for an Edison base?
Here is a 12-ish V Lamp assembly that has reasonable output:

Thanks for the added data, this table is very easily readable.
Completely agree with BB Bill. Cycling the bank a few times will help, and should help reduce the variation in SG.
And, ...
Hi Bp,
Well, looking at the Surrette spec, the 8HHG-31P is a nominal 325 AH (at 1.265 SG electrolyte) 8V battery:

If this is a...
