Cable Length

Just want to do this one time. Do the Neg. and Pos. battery cables running to the inverter have to the same length? in my case it would be 7' on the Neg. and 3' on the Pos, I have read but only once that they should be the same lenght. Batteries and hooked up to 24volts and will have 4/0 cable
