Hello - Now that NEC 2008 has been out for some time, I wanted to ask what folks are doing in regards to 690.5 Ground Fault Protection (GFP) and some of the products and solutions you have used to address this requirement. I read that there are two exceptions to installing DC-GFP and wondered if folks had any comments on those.

One exception is that pole and and ground mount systems with no more than two paralleled source circuits *and* with all dc source and dc output circuits isolated from buildings shall be permitted without DC-GFP. The second exception is that PV units installed at other than dwelling units shall be permitted without DC-GFP.

Thanks!

I use the MidNite Solar 63 A GF interrupter/indicator (http://store.solar-electric.com/mndc-gfp.html) in my E-Panel. They also offer an 80 A model (125 VDC) (http://store.solar-electric.com/mndc-gfp80.html). OutBack offers a two-circuit GF interrupter/indicator (http://store.solar-electric.com/obdc-gfp2.html) for one or two PV arrays. Xantrex' XW charge controller has a built-in GF fuse.
